Israel Targets Militants' Relatives Over Bombings
Israel signaled a change of tactics in its battle against suicide bombings on Friday, detaining relatives of Palestinian militants for possible exile from the West Bank to Gaza as a deterrent to future attackers.

The army said its forces, operating near the West Bank city of Nablus, destroyed the homes of wanted militants Nasser a-Din Assidi of Hamas and Ali Ahmad al-Ajouri of Fatah and detained relatives of both of the men.

Israeli political sources said Israel intended to send the detained family members -- the militants' fathers and brothers -- to the Gaza Strip. Israel Radio said 22 people were taken into custody.

It was not immediately clear if the detainees would be granted recourse to challenge in Israeli courts moves to exile them.
