West Bank Is Dangerous for Reporters
The West Bank is the world's most dangerous area for journalists, the U.S.-based Committee to Protect Journalists said Friday, accusing both the Israeli military and Palestinian militants of hampering the work of the media.

During Israel's military operation in the West Bank, reporters were sometimes targeted by Israeli soldiers, the group said in a report.

``The Israeli army has used threats, intimidation and, in some cases, potentially lethal force to prevent journalists from covering its military operations,'' the group wrote. The soldiers have fired live rounds at reporters, detained several journalists and confiscated film or press cards in some instances, the report said.
