Israelis Threaten Retaliation After Suicide Bomber Kills 19
Ariel Sharon, Israel's prime minister, paid an unusual visit to the blast site, walking solemnly past a row of more than 10 black body bags. "The terrible sights we have seen here are stronger than any words," he said.

Mr. Sharon referred to discussions within the Bush administration over whether the president should come out in favor of an interim Palestinian state, in hopes of speeding an end to the conflict.

"It is interesting to know what kind of Palestinian state they mean," Mr. Sharon said. "What Palestinian state are they talking about?"
