"Stop sending our young people to carry out such attacks. We see no results in such attacks but a deepening of the hatred between both peoples and a deepening of the gap between us."

Bomb Kills 6 Israelis; Army Retakes West Bank Lands
Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades, an offshoot of the Tanzim militia on the West Bank affiliated with Yasir Arafat's Fatah faction, claimed responsibility for the bombing. "Zionists leave our land, because we will not stop our operations as long as there is an occupation," the brigades' statement read.

That sentiment drew sharp criticism from other Palestinians. A paid advertisement in the paper Al Quds this morning with dozens of signers, including the legislator Hanan Ashrawi and the senior Jerusalem official Sari Nusseibeh, called for a halt to suicide bombings.

"Stop sending our young people to carry out such attacks," the advertisement read. "We see no results in such attacks but a deepening of the hatred between both peoples and a deepening of the gap between us."
