Palestinians Comb Rubble After Troops Leave Camp
U.N. Middle East envoy Terje Roed-Larsen said the attack on Jenin was likely to create fresh hatred and militancy. Israeli officials say Jenin was a ``hornet's nest of terror'' and a launching pad for suicide attacks against Israel.

``This is not in the security interest of Israel, it is the opposite,'' Larsen told Israel Radio after touring the Jenin camp. ``What has been produced here is a very strong terrorist infrastructure, because the hatred and the aggression against Israel and Israelis has reached a new peak.''
…Larsen said international aid groups were denied access to perform operations that could have saved Palestinian lives and Israel had not given food convoys proper access to the camp.

``This is a sad and disgraceful chapter in the history of the State of Israel,'' he said.
